In 1967, after her three children were all in school, Sybil attended culinary classes at the University of Virginia Branch at Wallops Island where she began her business with opening ‘Cindy’s Sub Shop in downtown Chincoteague. During which time, she began to create her famous crab cake sandwiches. From that time, and decades to follow, Sybil expanded from great subs and sandwiches to preparing succulent seafood dishes for two of Chincoteague Island’s premier restaurants; the Landmark Crab House and Flagship.
Chesapeake Bay Shore Things began
by offering gourmet seafood and spice dip mixes tastefully packaged in
traditional gift baskets. As Sybil quickly gained recognition for her
simplicity with combining spiced dip mixes from her original seafood
recipes, her creativity soon resulted in launching a highly competitive
niche in the market place representative of her culinary talents. To
follow, Sybil complimented her company with opening an outlet store on
Chincoteague Island in 1990.
Today, Chesapeake Bay Shore Things remains an original idea and a privately
owned company. The company’s success lies within providing and
unsurpassed quality and maximum quantity for the consumer. (She was known
for this very same consistency while in the restaurant business. Her
customers have always been her first priority.)
Today, Sybil continues to work up recipes in her kitchen and travels
across the Mid-Atlantic Region representing Chesapeake Bay Shore Things.
Her tribute to hard work and the love of meeting new friends in the public
called business solidifies her resume.
